Auto Repair & Service in Palm Desert, CA, 44420 Town Center Way

Keep in mind this review is about the customer service I received over the phone at this Mountain View location. Ultimately I did not use this shop, given the reasons described below. I called their Palm Desert location on Town Center Way. I had to negotiate a phone tree, and then got a live person that was obviously reading from a script. I had several questions to ask and they would pause and look up information, then read me something. Who knows where they were located. I had a question regarding a specific service they could not answer, so they finally transferred me to the store to speak with a person there. That store location answered, and while not rude they were quite short and curt with their answers to my questions. I felt like they didn?t want to be bothered answering questions about their services. I asked about a specific type of tire balancing service I wanted and they told me they did not provide that and none of their locations do. I asked about a specific tire to see if they had it in stock, which they didn?t and then they called me back after checking on it. They told me the tire had been discontinued and then steered me toward a much more expensive alternative, which doubled the price compared to other tire chains in Coachella Valley. I respectfully declined. After this call I went to the tire manufacturers website, and the tire I wanted was not discontinued. The tire that Mountain View was trying to sell me was a completely different category.

 I checked with another large tire chain in Coachella Valley, and they had the tire I wanted in stock and at a much lower price point. They also provided the extra tire balancing service I wanted included in their mount and balance price, further telling me that service has been considered very standard in the industry for 5 or 6 years now. Overall, Mountain View might be a good shop given the many positive reviews here. My experience in the initial phone contact didn?t convey good customer service. Especially being steered to a much higher priced tire.

 The lesson is do your research and know what you really want and need before calling or stopping at the shop. The attempts to up-sell are real.....Read More
