?????? I?ve taken my car to this location for years, but after this experience, I have completely lost confidence in their knowledge and service. I brought my car in for a routine oil change. I received a call from Milton, the manager overseeing my car, who began listing several additional services he claimed the vehicle needed. One of those was a cabin air filter replacement, which immediately raised a red flag because, to my knowledge, I had already had it replaced during a previous visit. When I questioned why it needed to be replaced again, I was told that the fires and poor air quality were a reason it needed changing. That explanation made little sense in my situation because I hardly drive this vehicle, and my car wasn?t even here during the fires I was out of town. Milton told me he would call back with estimates. In the meantime, I contacted a Volkswagen dealership to compare pricing. When Milton called back, the additional work was going to cost around $900. At those prices, I decided spending an extra $50 would be much better to take my car in and have Volkswagen directly have it taken care of. I told Milton that I only wanted the oil change and would take the car to Volkswagen for the other services. He then HUNG UP ON ME. After an interaction like that I had changed my mind and didn?t want the oil change done there either. I was then told I couldn?t cancel because the oil change had already been completed. I asked why he didn?t simply tell me that before hanging up on me, and he responded that he ?was getting ready to call me.? When I arrived to pick up my car, Milton then asked me if I knew the vehicle had an oil leak. I told him no and explained that I had consistently brought the car there for service. He told me I would need to bring it back for further inspection. Things became even more concerning after I left. About five minutes into my drive, I noticed a strong burnt-oil smell coming from the vehicle. My dad, who has experience with car maintenance looked under the hood and found oil spilled throughout the engine area. We wanted to know whether there was actually an oil leak, I took the car directly to Volkswagen dealership to have it professionally inspected the next day. Volkswagen told me they DID NOT FIND AN OIL LEAK. What they did find was that the oil cap had not been installed properly, it was now damaged and needed replacement, and there appeared to have been an oil spill around the oil reservoir/engine area. So I brought my car in for a basic oil change, was told I had an oil leak that Volkswagen subsequently could not find, was quoted roughly $900 in recommended work, was hung up on when I declined that work, and then discovered that something as basic as the oil cap had not even been installed correctly after the oil change. Isn?t this textbook?!? I?m not sure if Elaine the mechanic working on my car is a rookie mechanic or what, I?m going to caution to be prepared to have to pay for additional cost if they don?t know how to put a oil cap back in its proper space. That is incredibly frustrating. If a shop is going to recommend hundreds of dollars in additional maintenance and repairs, I expect the actual work being performed to meet a basic professional standard. Properly reinstalling an oil cap after an oil change is fundamental and speaks volumes in the level of service. I?m now further questioning what kind of oil and service is being performed here. After being a returning customer, this experience destroyed my trust in this location. Between the customer service, the questionable recommendations, being told there was an oil leak that Volkswagen could not verify, and the careless oil-change work itself, I will not be returning.
